One of the most important tasks of childhood is learning how to initiate and maintain friendships. This capability comes easier for some children than for others. The programs at Wally’s Club have shown that the ability to form friendships is in every child’s grasp. This is especially true when social skills are clearly taught and practiced.

We have been helping parents build confident and competent children for nearly two decades.  Wally’s Club has created a place where children can experience their social selves successfully, while learning key skills they can bring to their everyday lives. We believe that these social skills can best be achieved by helping children learn how to:

  • Recognize, understand and express emotions.
  • Problem-solve, and negotiate conflict.
  • Regulate anger and frustration.
  • Communicate effectively with peers one-on-one.
  • Confidently interact with peers in a group setting.
  • Handle peer teasing, pressure, and rejection.
  • Accept differences and other points of view.

We teach these skills through role-play, active games, group discussion and other experiential activities.

Designed for both girls and boys ages 4 to 12 years old, our groups are small, consisting of 6-8 children & 2 facilitators.

We all have something to learn in the important areas of finding and being friends and in knowing we belong. This is a lifelong learning process. There are, however, times when social tasks can be more difficult or feel more critical to our well-being, and Middle School is often one of these times.

It is our intent to create a place where adolescents can experience their social selves successfully while learning key skills they can bring to their everyday lives. Deciding where/how we belong in our social worlds is an enlightening journey, especially when accompanied by like-minded companions.

Wally's Club helped me express my feelings. It helped me make new friends. When I got there on my first day, it was lots of fun and the guys were really cool.
— Matthew, Age 10
Wally's Club was a safe harbor for our son who was flailing with social interactions. His self-esteem has blossomed and his ability to manage himself, have meaningful dialog with peers and work cooperatively with others has improved tremendously. [The team leaders] helped break down the social puzzle into bite-size segments which were introduced with structure, fun and caring. Wally's Club was an amazing experience for our son and we strongly recommend the program.
